On the roof of NOMATECH's new production hall in Vlašim, we have built a photovoltaic power plant complemented by battery storage. The aim of the project is to increase the company's energy self-sufficiency, reduce consumption of electricity from non-renewable sources, and cut related CO₂ emissions.

The power plant has an installed capacity of 49.9 kWp and is complemented by battery storage with a capacity of 100 kWh. This combination allows us to use more of the electricity we generate directly in our operations and to better handle differences between instantaneous production and consumption.

hat we generate, we use ourselves

The power plant was designed to make maximum use of the generated energy directly on the NOMATECH premises. It operates in self-consumption mode: we use the electricity generated on the roof of the new hall primarily to run the company. Surplus energy that can be neither consumed nor stored in the battery flows into the distribution grid.

For a manufacturing engineering company, this makes practical sense. We need electricity every day for production, assembly, running our technologies, and the company's general facilities. We now cover part of this consumption ourselves, right where the energy is generated.

The battery helps us use energy outside production hours

An important part of the system is the 100 kWh battery storage. Its purpose is not only to store surplus electricity from the solar panels. It also helps smooth out operational fluctuations and consumption peaks during the day.

We use the stored energy even when generation drops or stops completely. At night and on weekends, the battery helps cover the site's minimum consumption, for example servers and other essential technical and administrative facilities.

This means we do not use the electricity we generate only during daytime sunshine.

Solar power is not only about the price of electricity

The decision to invest in our own solar power plant was not based solely on current energy prices. One of the reasons was also preparing for the growing sustainability and carbon footprint requirements of banks and large European customers.

NOMATECH manufactures and supplies packaging technology to customers around the world. With large European partners, we therefore expect a growing emphasis on how their suppliers approach energy consumption, emissions, and other ESG areas. Generating our own electricity from a renewable source is one concrete step in preparing for this development and in having our own measurable data available.

This is not a one-off ecological gesture. It makes sense for us to gradually look for measures that bring both environmental and practical operational benefits.

First results: almost 29 tonnes of CO₂ emissions saved

The power plant has been in operation since November 2025. As of 1 October 2026, it had generated more than 40 MWh of electricity according to the monitoring application.

In the same period, the site's consumption was 47.67 MWh, of which 16.56 MWh was purchased from the grid. Approximately 65% of the site's consumption was therefore covered by our own power plant. Almost 7 MWh, or approximately 17% of the electricity generated, was exported to the distribution grid. Most of the generated electricity was thus used directly on site or to charge the battery.

As of 1 October 2026, the monitoring application also reports CO₂ emissions savings of almost 29 tonnes. The project thus brings not only greater use of our own generated energy, but also a measurable environmental benefit.

The project was co-financed by the European Union

The total cost of building the solar power plant including storage is CZK 2,977,440 excluding VAT.

For the implementation of the project "Construction of a Photovoltaic Power Plant Including Storage", under the Operational Programme Technology and Applications for Competitiveness 2021–2027, programme "Photovoltaic Systems with/without Storage", project number 2025-1021-F6, NOMATECH s.r.o. received financial support from European Union funds through the National Development Bank.

The aim of the project is to reduce consumption of electricity from non-renewable sources, reduce CO₂ emissions, reduce energy costs, and achieve partial energy self-sufficiency of the company.

The next step towards more efficient operation
