Horizontal packaging machines are designed for packaging of piece goods. With quality machines pack up to 200 pcs product per hour.

These machines are suitable for packaging of small piece, granular, easy pouring, pouring hard and pasty products.

Frequently asked questions | FAQ

  • What is the difference between a flowpack and a horizontal packaging machine?
Flowpack is a specific type of horizontal packaging machine used for larger piece or fragile products (e.g. bakery products, confectionery, or technical parts), which are wrapped in film.
Horizontal machines can either fill pre-made bags or form and fill them. These include doypacks (stand-up pouches), sachets (3- or 4-side sealed), zipper bags, etc.
  • What is the difference between horizontal and vertical packaging machines?
A vertical machine fills bags from above and is suitable mainly for bulk, liquid, powdered, or small-piece products (coffee, pasta, muesli, sugar, snacks).
A horizontal machine inserts products from the side and wraps them gently into flowpack, making it ideal for piece and fragile products (bakery goods, bars, chocolates).

  • Are horizontal machines supplied with dosing systems?
In most cases, yes. Without a dosing system only upon customer request. The dosing system is always selected based on the product.
  • How long does a format change take?
It depends on the machine type and operator skill. Generally, for packaging, cartoning, and bagging machines it takes approximately 20–60 minutes.
  • Is technical documentation included?
Yes, standard delivery includes a technical manual, operating instructions, electrical diagrams, Declaration of Conformity, and electrical inspection report. Available in Czech and English (sometimes Polish, Russian, German). Other languages available upon request for an additional fee.
  • Are horizontal machines environmentally friendly?
Yes. Operation does not generate excessive waste; initial test cycles are sorted for recycling. Machine materials are generally recyclable.
  • What safety features are included or available?
Standard features for all machines (vertical, cartoning, bagging, filling) include protective covers, safety limit switches (machine stops when doors are opened), and emergency STOP buttons. Optional safety fencing is available.
  • What are the most common mistakes when designing packaging lines?

The most common mistakes in packaging line design are:

    • Insufficient adaptation of the machine to the product type – each product requires a specific type of packaging and dosing equipment. If product samples and packaging materials are not available, it is easy to configure unsuitable equipment.
    • Underestimating the required line capacity and speed.
    • Incomplete line configuration – failure to include certain auxiliary equipment (marking systems, package inspection systems, etc.).
    • Overlooking hygiene and safety requirements.
    • Difficult maintenance due to poor accessibility.
    • Proper design requires a detailed analysis of the product, production volume, and operating space to ensure that the line is efficient, safe, and easy to maintain.
