Vertical packaging machines are suitable to pack loose, powder, liquid or small piece products.

What is the difference between horizontal and vertical packaging machines? A vertical machine fills bags from the top and is ideal for bulk, liquid, powdered, or small-piece products (e.g. coffee, pasta, muesli, sugar, snacks).
A horizontal machine (flowpack) inserts products from the side and gently wraps them in film formed into a tube. A longitudinal seal is created on the underside, followed by a cross seal that closes the package and separates it from the next one. It is suitable for piece and fragile products (e.g. bakery products, bars, chocolate).

Can different types of bags be produced on one vertical machine? Yes. With minor adjustments (changing forming parts and recipe settings), one machine can produce various bag types: stick packs, pyramid bags, flat bags, pillow bags, gusseted bags, zipper bags, flat-bottom bags, euro hole bags, sacks, and block-bottom bags.

Can one machine handle different bag sizes? Yes, the packaging equipment can be adjusted to different formats within the minimum and maximum dimensions of the given model. This requirement should be specified during initial discussions. Format changes usually require replacing a few parts (manual operations).

A continuous single-tube vertical machine can reach up to 160 bags/min.
A discontinuous single-tube machine can reach up to 100 cycles/bags per minute.
Multi-tube versions (e.g. 10 lanes) can reach up to 500 bags/min.
Actual speed depends mainly on the product and packaging material.

What is the maximum bag length? Bag sizes are variable, typically from a minimum of 60 mm (VOLCANO) up to 980 mm (TOBOGAN 350) or 1000 mm (TOBOGAN 650).

What packaging materials can be sealed? Vertical machines can seal both heat-sealable and impulse-sealable materials (PP, PE, laminates, paper with PE, compostable films, aluminum foil with PE).

What is a forming tube? A forming tube is part of a vertical packaging machine – it shapes the packaging material and guides the product into the bag. Its diameter depends on the required bag width.

Are vertical machines supplied with dosing systems? In most cases, yes. If you already have a dosing system, we can integrate and synchronize it.

What are the space and height requirements? This depends on the total height of the machine (including dosing system and feeding conveyor). In practice, expect approximately 4–5 meters for most applications.

In what environment can vertical machines operate? The machine can operate at temperatures from 5 to 35 °C with relative humidity up to 65 %. It must not be installed in chemically aggressive or explosive environments. The machine must be levelled, and dust and vibrations should be minimized.

Can vertical machines be integrated into complete mixing and filling lines? Yes, they are commonly integrated into full lines – from feeding and dosing through packaging and grouping to cartoning, marking, palletizing, and safety fencing. We supply all line components.

What safety features are included? Standard features include protective covers, safety limit switches (stop the machine when doors open), and emergency STOP buttons. Optional safety fencing can be added.

Are the machines environmentally friendly? Yes. Operation is environmentally friendly and does not generate excessive waste. During startup, approximately 15 empty cycles are required (waste is sorted for recycling). No significant waste is generated during normal operation. At end of life, no harmful substances or gases are present, and materials are recyclable.

Yes, as standard, we supply a Technical Manual and Operating Instructions including electrical diagrams, a Declaration of Conformity certificate, and an Electrical System Revision. The language versions available are Czech and English (in some cases, Polish, Russian, and German). These manuals can be supplied in other languages upon request and at an additional cost.

What are the most common mistakes when designing packaging lines? The most common mistakes when designing packaging lines are:
- Insufficient adaptation of the machine to the type of product - each product requires a specific type of packaging and dosing equipment. If a sample of the product and packaging material is not available, it is easy to configure unsuitable equipment.
- Underestimation of line capacity and speed.
- Incompleteness of the line - omission of inclusion of some additional equipment (labeling equipment, packaging inspection, etc.).
- Omitted hygiene/safety requirements.
- Difficult maintenance due to poor accessibility.
- Proper design requires a detailed analysis of the product, production volume and operating space to ensure the line is efficient, safe and easy to maintain.

How long does a format change take? It depends on the machine type and operator skill. For vertical, cartoning, and bagging machines, it is generally around 20–60 minutes.
